We have some similar experiences Grendel. Though, I feel I have to clarify for folks; I don't really hate my mom. It was more of an "ARRRRGGHH" type of thing. Anyhoo, I am the last of a very large family, so I have a very clear memory of being in my oldest (15 years my senior) brother's van at what was his (at the time) high school. He was playing hoops, and my other brother and I were playing in the van (They were waaaayyy cool back then-early seventies). In the tape deck (8 track??) was "Skeletons from the Closet" and I remember grinning ear-to-ear at my first realization of rock'n'roll; "One More Sat. Night" and "Lovelight". Despite my "Arrgh" at mom, in all honesty I don't think I would have known Dark Star, or at least appreciated it. I had been listening to them for years (I was an early bloomer), but it would have been wasted on me. My first Radio City show, and second (Halloween) were fantastic! Much of the acoustic stuff was unfamiliar, but still great. I remember the rumors at the time that "Old and in the Way" was going to open up! What a hoot! The good old days! Well, I forgot where I was going with this, but I loved the shows and the commraderie of all my friends going to shows (thankfully there were a whole bunch of us in jr. and sr. high. And with that, I will mercifully sign off :)
